Archimedes made many scientific discoveries. These discoveries included; Hydrostatics- Archimedes Principle (Density), Archimedes Screw, Principles of Levers, and Archimedes Claw. Watch the following videos about two of his most important discoveries.
Archimedes Principle (Density)
Archimedes Screw
After watching the videos, answer the following questions in a paragraph:
Have you ever used either of these discoveries? Besides the examples in the videos, how else might the Archimedes Screw and Principle be used in everyday life?
Of the two discoveries you just learned about, which do you think is the most important in today's society? Why do you think this?
Using specifically these four inventors was definitely a good choice because everything the created is still used in during this modern age. Asking the question, "Have you ever used either of these discoveries?" would help the students relate to the content. Your blog is very organized with a great layout, making it easy to read and follow along.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I worked hard to make sure it would be organized for students. I don't want layout or organization to be an obstacle in answering the questions and learning the material. I wanted it to be a straight forward as possible so students could get right into the material.
DeleteI overall enjoyed your blog. The information that you put about the 4 inventors were very interesting. The set up of your blog was very different. I liked how you did a video about each inventor and then put in more information about them.
ReplyDeleteThank you Julianne! I wanted to give the students variety when answering the question. I put four inventors and four different assignments that all lead to similar outcomes so that the students would have a little bit of choice in their learning.
DeleteThis blog was fun to read and your questions were all really good! It was hard to find appropriate videos but you managed to find some real good ones!
ReplyDeleteThis blog is great! The videos are a really cool way to show content and also keep kids engaged. I think your questions are excellent too and will give students the chance to research and be thoughtful in the process.
ReplyDeleteYour blog contained a lot of good information. I like how you focused on certain inventors and than had a video after each. I learned a lot from reading your blog and I think students will gain a lot of knowledge. The videos were also very age appropriate.
